The 07-08 year has been an exciting one! With new coach, Kim Silva, so many things have changed. The Dance/Drill team, which consists of 14 girls, learned many different routines through the year, including seven competition routines and many other football game routines. The year got off to a great start with the team going to summer camps and getting an invitation to perform at the halftime show for the NFL ProBowl in Hawaii from their performances there at camp.

The team then started off the school year by performing at the Link Crew Freshmen Orientation. They then performed at all the past rallys, always with something new and interesting! The team also performed at the football games and helped to cheer on our team, as well as performing with the Cheer team at one of the games in a Unity performance.

The Dance/Drill team has worked extremely hard this year to prepare for the upcoming USA Nationals in Anaheim, CA. They got first place in some of their divisions during minor competitions. They then went on to work even more and because of their effort, they won the title of State Champions in the Dance/Drill division and getting second in the Military division. That is something that has the Oakmont Dance/Drill team has done before, and will go down in Oakmont Dance/Drill team history!

The Dance/Drill Team to is overjoyed to be competing at Nationals in Anaheim and can't wait for an opportunity to show off their new improvements to the rest of OHS.

The dance/drill girls are required to maintain their grades, and a 2.0 G.P.A. at all times. The girls work hard to keep up their grades and to be able to give 110% at every practice. For the first time, an emphasis on conditioning and technical skill has been especially endowed into the team. Gossiping and put downs are not tolerated, and the girls have participated in many team bonding activities to ensure a common friendship. Through these activities, the girls are learning the skills necessary to get along with others later on in life and form lasting relationships. With these high standards, the level of dance skill and performance has exponentially increased from previous years. Oakmont Dance/Drill remains a beloved tradition in Oakmont spirit and entertainment.
