Kathleen Sirovy

Kathleen Sirovy became principal at Oakmont
High School in January 2002. She began her teaching career at Oakmont
in 1972 at which time she was department coordinator for the physical
education department, taught PE, health and speech. She coached gymnastics,
swimming, softball, and dance. Kathleen spent two years as an assistant
principal at Oakmont, followed by five and-a-half years in that role
while opening Granite Bay High School. Kathleen then returned to
Oakmont in January 2002 as principal.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree and teaching credential from Humboldt State University, she received a master’s degree in counseling at University of LaVerne, and an administrative credential from Sacramento State University. In 1992, Kathleen was the state, district, and National Teacher of the Year for Secondary Physical Education.
Kathleen lives in Newcastle with her husband George who works a special education teacher and athletic director at Granite Bay High School. She has two children, Joe (26) of Sacramento, and Margie (23) of Maui, HI.
Kathleen’s vision for Oakmont is to support the emerging growth in the OHS community to sustain a fully comprehensive high school with opportunities for all students. We strive for high achievement and improved performance as students prepare for post-secondary education and opportunities.
